Napa Valley College gym a home away from home for Helena White, Storm’s two-sport athlete
By MARTY JAMES martyjames.sports@gmail.com
Helena White was a year-round athlete, playing on volleyball, basketball and softball teams, while also competing in wrestling, during her high school years at Priest River Lamanna in Idaho.
She is doing something very similar as a freshman at Napa Valley College.
In the fall, she played for Coach Scott Bishop’s Storm volleyball team as a middle hitter and middle blocker.
This winter, she is playing for Coach Paul DeBolt’s Storm basketball team at the forward and post positions.
“I think it helps me academically, mentally and physically, to just be in a sport,” said the 5-foot-10 White. “It keeps me going in my classes and it helps with my grades and everything, overall.
“I feel good when I play sports. So, the gym is where I spend a lot of time, and I love it.”
The gym is a home away from home for White.
