Napa Valley College baseball team held to six hits in loss to Cosumnes River

The Napa Valley College baseball team was held to six hits and lost its nonconference game, 7-0 to Cosumnes River College in Sacramento on Saturday, Feb. 15.

The loss is the 11th in a row for Napa Valley (0-11 overall).

Wyatt Smith had two hits and was 2-for-3 to lead the Storm offense.

Additional hits came from Shosei Tatsuno, who was 1-for-3 with a stolen base; Owen Nelson, who was 1-for-4; Marcellus Cueva, who was 1-for-3 with a double; and Jaden Hunter, who was 1-for-4.

Napa Valley struck out seven times and left seven runners on base.

Cosumnes River scored two runs in the second inning, one run in the third inning, two runs in the fourth inning, and two more runs in the seventh inning.

Nick Stubbles started for NVC and took the loss after pitching four innings, allowing six hits, five runs (all earned), walking two and striking out three. Stubbles faced 20 batters.

Joel Gapusan pitched in relief, going three innings and allowing four hits and two runs (both earned), and walked three. Gapusan faced 16 batters.

Carson Goss pitched one inning of relief.

NVC's next game is Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Sierra College-Rocklin.
