Napa Valley College women's basketball team drops second straight game

The Napa Valley College women's basketball team lost its second straight nonconference game, falling to host Butte College, 74-43, in Oroville on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Napa Valley (2-3 overall) was behind at halftime, 30-23, but was outscored by Butte, 29-6 in the third quarter.

Napa Valley shot 41.0 percent from the field (16-of-39), 30.0 percent from 3-point distance (3-of-10), and 44.4 percent from the free-throw line (8-of-18).

Arianna Aguilar, with 13 points, and Rose Jamison, with 11 points, were the only players in double-figure scoring for the Storm.

Aguilar was 5-of-10 shooting from the field. Aguilar also had seven rebounds and three assists.

Jamison was 5-of-10 from the free-throw line and also had three rebounds and four assists.

Jazmine Fontilla scored nine points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. She also had four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Ashley Torres scored four points. She also had four rebounds and two steals.

Marticia Pollard had 11 rebounds and two points.

Also, playing for the Storm was Kamilah Tiongco (two rebounds, two assists, two points) and Helena White (two rebounds, three steals, two points). Four players scored in double figures for Butte, which had a 22-9 lead in the first quarter.

It was Shade Satica with 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting, with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals; Nahkia Clements with 18 points and three assists; Giselle Rodriguez with 13 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and five steals; and Zoey Petrie with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Butte had 22 assists and 14 steals. Butte shot 37.5 percent from the field (27-of-72), 34.9 percent from 3-point distance (15-of-43), and 55.6 percent from the free-throw line (5-of-9).

Napa Valley's next nonconference game is Saturday, Nov. 30 at Cabrillo College-Aptos at 3 p.m.
