NVC men’s soccer team looking for first win, first goal of season

The Napa Valley College men's soccer team is not only looking for its first win of the 2024 season. The Storm is also looking for its first goal of the season.

After losing its season opener, 1-0 to Folsom Lake College, the Storm continued its nonconference season, playing its first road match on Friday, Aug. 30 at Modesto Junior College.

Napa Valley was shut out, losing to Modesto, 3-0.

Modesto went ahead, 2-0 in the first half. Modesto scored its final goal in the second half.

Modesto scored its first goal at the 27-minute mark. Alberto Sarabia, a midfielder, scored the goal, with the assist going to Elijah Reyneveld, a forward.

Modesto scored its second goal at the 37-minute mark. Reyneveld scored the goal, with the assist credited to Jorge Medina, a midfielder.

Modesto's third goal came at the 69-minute mark. Brian Valenzuela, a forward, scored the goal, with the assist going to Kaiden Rieben, a defender.

Dylan Rodriguez had four saves at goalkeeper for Modesto.

Napa Valley continues its season as it will be at home on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for a nonconference match against City College of San Francisco starting at 4 p.m.

The Storm has eight nonconference matches.

The Bay Valley Conference season begins on Oct. 1, with Napa Valley playing at Mendocino College-Ukiah.
