Napa Valley College women's basketball begins season 1-1

The Napa Valley College women's basketball team began the 2025-26 season by playing in the Pasadena City College Sisterhood of Champions Tournament, a crossover event.
After winning its opener, 76-45 over San Bernardino Valley College on Saturday, Nov. 1, the Storm lost its next game, falling 67-49 to Taft College on Sunday, Nov. 2.
It's a 1-1 start to the season for Napa Valley, which has 13 nonconference games on its schedule.
Arianna Aguilar and Jazmine Fontilla each scored 15 points to lead Napa Valley in its game against San Bernardino Valley.
Aguilar also had three 3-pointers, six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. She was 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from the 3-point line.
Fontilla had four rebounds and three assists. She was 6-of-14 shooting from the field.
Also, scoring in double figures was Ashley Torres, with 10 points and four rebounds, and Layla Butler, with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, seven rebounds and five assists.
Thirteen players saw action in the game for the Storm. Also contributing:
Amiyah Murry (seven points on 3-of-3 shooting, eight rebounds, two steals), Jazelle Bolton (seven points, six rebounds, two steals), Amya Sims (two assists), Briana Alday (six rebounds), Marticia Pollard (four points, seven rebounds), Camille Abcede (three rebounds, four assists, three steals), and Helena White (five rebounds).
The Storm shot 37.5 percent from the field (30-of-80), 30.8 percent from 3-point distance (4-of-13), and 50.0 percent from the free-throw line (12-of-24). They also had 71 rebounds, 22 assists and 16 steals.
Fontilla was the only NVC players to score in double figures in the game against Taft. She had 12 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Aguilar (nine points, three rebounds), Pollard (eight points, seven rebounds, two steals), Torres (five rebounds, two assists), Butler (six points, three assists), Sims (three points, four rebounds, two assists), Janelle Harding (four points), Bolton (seven rebounds).
The Storm shot 26.7 percent from the field (16-of-60) and 69.6 percent from the free-throw line (16-of-23). They had 43 rebounds.
The Storm continues their road schedule with a game at American River College-Sacramento on Nov. 4.
They will open their home schedule on Nov. 6 against College of the Redwoods-Eureka at 4 p.m.
