
Jamison scores career-best 44 points as NVC women's basketball wins on 'Sophomore Night'

With Rose Jamison scoring a career-best 44 points, the host Napa Valley College women's basketball team concluded its 2024-25 regular season schedule, beating Yuba College-Marysville, 82-61, on "Sophomore Night" Thursday.
Jamison added to her sensational season with a double-double, also getting 13 rebounds, to go along with three assists and three steals.
Jamison, one of the top players in Napa Valley school history, was 17-of-31 shooting from the field, 5-of-12 from the 3-point line, and 5-of-8 at the free-throw line.
Napa Valley (17-11 overall, 13-3 Bay Valley Conference) finishes the conference season in sole possession of second place in the standings. The Storm is 8-2 over its last 10 games.
Laney College-Oakland (25-3 overall, 16-0 Bay Valley) won the title.
Solano Community College-Fairfield (17-11 overall, 12-4 Bay Valley) finished in third place.
College of Marin-Kentfield (16-12 overall, 11-5 Bay Valley) finished in fourth place.
Jamison's previous-best was a 37-point game in the Storm's win over Diablo Valley College-Pleasant Hill, 72-52, in a first-round game of the fourth annual Storm Surge in December.
She also scored 36 points in a nonconference game against Sacramento City College in November, 36 points against Mendocino College-Ukiah in a Bay Valley game in January, and 32 points in a Bay Valley game earlier this month against Solano.
Jamison is averaging 22.0 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
Napa Valley was in front of Yuba 23-16 in the first quarter and had the lead, 46-30 at halftime.
Jazmine Fontilla had a triple-double for the Storm, scoring 22 points and getting 13 rebounds and 12 assists in an outstanding all-around game. She also had two steals and was 5-of-6 at the free-throw line.
Ashley Torres scored 11 points and had four rebounds, two assists and four steals.
Marticia Pollard scored three points and had 11 rebounds and three assists.
Helena White scored two points and had 10 rebounds and two steals.
Also, playing for the Storm:
Teira Greenwood (two rebounds, two assists), Deena Sharqawi.
Napa Valley shot 37.8 percent from the field (31-of-82), 42.9 percent from 3-point distance (6-of-14), and 70.0 percent from the free-throw line (14-of-20). The Storm had 55 rebounds, 23 assists, 12 steals and two blocked shots.
NVC had a five-game winning streak broken with a 71-50 loss on Tuesday, Feb. 18 to College of Marin in Kentfield.
Marin was ahead 22-12 in the first quarter and 38-23 at halftime.
Torres led NVC, scoring 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. She also had four rebounds and four assists.
Jamison scored 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the 3-point line. She also had eight rebounds, three assists and five blocked shots.
Fontilla scored 14 points and had four rebounds, three assists and blocked two shots.
Pollard had four points and five rebounds.
Also, seeing action for NVC:
White (four rebounds), Sharqawi (three rebounds) and Greenwood.
The Storm shot 34.8 percent from the field (16-of-46) and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line (16-of-24). They had 29 rebounds, 10 assists, six steals and blocked seven shots.
Meanwhile, the field for the 2025 California Community College Athletic Association-Northern California Regional Championships will be announced on Feb. 23. It will be a 24-team field, with first-round games on Feb. 26.
