
Napa Valley College women's soccer team drops 2-1 decision to Los Medanos

The Napa Valley College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to host Los Medanos College in a Bay Valley Conference round-robin tournament match on Friday, Nov. 8 in Pittsburg.
The Storm's Leila Newberry, a freshman midfielder, scored on a penalty kick in the 70th-minute of the second half after Annie Sanchez, a sophomore forward, was fouled
Newberry's goal tied the match, at 1-1.
Isabel Frias made five saves at goalkeeper in 90 minutes for Napa Valley (7-3 overall, 6-2 Bay Valley).
The Storm has scored 41 goals in 10 games, for an average of 4.10 goals per match.
Los Medanos opened the scoring on an unassisted goal from Indigo Whiteley at the 22-minute mark of the first half.
Los Medanos got the winning goal from Nayeli Gutierrez, off an assist from Katrina Xaysana, at the 84-minute mark of the second half.
Napa Valley's next match is on Friday, Nov. 15 at Merritt College-Oakland at 1 p.m.
