Thais Thompson-Rangel scored two goals and Isabel Frias made five saves as the Napa Valley College women's soccer team won its second straight match, with the Storm beating Yuba College, 3-2, in Marysville on Friday, Oct. 18.
Napa Valley (5-1 overall, 5-1 Bay Valley) is in third place in the conference standings. The Storm has scored 25 goals in six games, an average of 4.17 goals per game.
Napa Valley, thanks to goals by Thompson-Rangel, a midfielder, and Natalie Montoya, a midfielder, took a 2-1 lead at halftime against Yuba.
Yuba opened the scoring at the 15-minute mark.
Thompson-Rangel scored for the Storm at the 20-minute mark. The assist went to Phoebe Arbabaraghi, a forward.
Montoya put the Storm in the lead, scoring an unassisted goal, at the 30-minute mark.
Yuba tied the match, 2-2, scoring a goal in the 85th minute.
Thompson-Rangel scored the game-winning goal, connecting on a shot at the 86th minute of play. The assist was credited to Arbabaraghi.
Frias played all 90 minutes at goalkeeper for the Storm.
Napa Valley is at home on Tuesday, Oct. 22 for its next game, with the Storm taking on Los Medanos College-Pittsburg at 2 p.m.
Solano Community College-Fairfield (8-4-1 overall, 6-0 Bay Valley) and Los Medanos (7-6-1 overall, 6-0 Bay Valley) are tied for first place in the conference standings.
