Napa Valley College men’s golf clinches Big 8 Conference North Division championship
The Napa Valley College men’s golf team clinched the Big 8 Conference North Division championship on Monday at the Ridge Golf Course, in Auburn.
Napa Valley finished third in a four-team field at the Big 8 Conference’s 10th tournament of the season, shooting a 398-team score. But it was still a strong enough finish for the Storm to go on and win its second straight division title.
The title is based on points and finishes in tournaments and matches during the season.
NVC baseball team’s winning streak snapped in loss to Laney College
Napa Valley College had a two-game winning streak snapped in a 16-2 Bay Valley Conference baseball loss to host Laney College on Tuesday, April 15 in Oakland.
It was the first game of a three-game series between the two teams.

Napa Valley College had some big-time performances from position players and pitchers in Friday’s Bay Valley Conference baseball game against Mendocino College-Ukiah at Storm Field.
There was the hitting that was supplied by Myles Gray, who was 3-for-4 with two doubles, and Marcellus Cueva, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
There was the defense, with Hibiki Kodama turning in a sparkling play at second base to get the leadoff batter in the top of the seventh inning. Everything about the play was flat-out sensational, with Kodama throwing out Dominic Joseph at first base.

The Napa Valley College baseball team snapped a seven-game losing streak, beating host Mendocino College in Ukiah on Thursday, 7-4, as Shosei Tatsuno led a 15-hit attack for the victorious Storm.
Tatsuno’s 4-for-5 day at the plate was highlighted by two doubles. He also scored two runs and drove in a run.
It was Game 2 of a three-game Bay Valley Conference series.
Napa Valley (8-24 overall, 7-7 Bay Valley Conference) was ahead 2-0 in the first inning.
12-hit attack not enough as Napa Valley College baseball drops series opener to Mendocino
The Napa Valley College baseball team got multi-hit games from four players, but the host Storm was charged with eight errors, struck out 13 times and left 11 runners on base in Tuesday’s 11-5 Bay Valley Conference loss to Mendocino College-Ukiah.
It was the first game of a three-game series between the two teams.
The loss was the seventh in a row for Napa Valley (7-24 overall, 6-7 Bay Valley Conference).
Napa Valley College men’s golf team wins its sixth tournament of season

The Napa Valley College men’s golf team won its sixth tournament of the spring season on Monday.
With five players shooting scores in the 70’s, the Storm won the Big 8 Conference-North Division’s ninth tournament at the Old Course at Half Moon Bay Golf Links.
Napa Valley, which is in first place in the Big 8 Conference-North Division, shot a 382-team score.
The Old Course at Half Moon Bay Golf Links is a par-72, 6,800-yard layout.
Solid outing for Hernandez in NVC baseball team’s loss to Los Medanos
Roy Hernandez is learning a lot about pitching as a freshman right-hander for the Napa Valley College baseball team.
He’s in a starting role for the first time in his career and is taking on the challenge of leading his team on to the field, going deep into games, throwing pitches for strikes, and getting hitters out.
“His mechanics are smoothing out a little bit,” said Derek Mayer, the Storm’s head coach. “We’ve got him kind of dialed in. He's one of those ultra competitors. He's not out there trying to throw the ball soft. He's trying to throw it by guys.
“He really kind of sets the tone for the rest of the pitching staff.”
Napa Valley College baseball held to two hits in loss to Los Medanos
Napa Valley College’s baseball team was held to two hits in a 3-0 Bay Valley Conference loss to Los Medanos College on Saturday, April 5 in Pittsburg.
Shosei Tatsuno was 1-for-4 and Jaden Hunter was 1-for-3 for Napa Valley, which struck out nine times and left three runners on base.
The loss was the sixth in a row for the Storm (7-23 overall, 6-6 Bay Valley Conference).
