NVC volleyball team goes 1-1 in last two Bay Valley Conference matches

The Napa Valley College volleyball team went 1-1 in its last two Bay Valley Conference matches, defeating Contra Costa College-San Pablo 3-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 26 and losing to Mendocino College-Ukiah 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 28.

Bella Dubois, an outside hitter, led Napa Valley, the host team, in a 25-23, 25-23, 25-18 win over Contra Costa.

Dubois had 15 kills, 20 digs and one block assist to lead the Storm.

Also playing well for the Storm:

* Madison Iwatsu (libero): 16 digs, two service aces, one set assist.

* Maria Magaoay (setter): 19 set assists, three kills, nine digs, one service ace.

* Maui Cabrera (outside hitter): three kills, 11 digs, five service aces.

* Sienna Marin (middle blocker): one kill, one dig, one block assist.

* Madison Gramlich (right side hitter): one kill, 15 digs, two service aces.

Dubois led Napa Valley, the visiting team, in a 25-11, 25-15, 26-24 loss to Mendocino.

Dubois (outside hitter) had 12 kills and 13 digs.

Also playing well for the Storm:

* Madison Iwatsu (outside hitter): eight digs, three service aces, two kills.

* Maria Magaoay (setter): 17 set assists, 11 digs.

* Maui Cabrera (right side hitter): two kills, nine digs, one service ace.

* Sienna Marin (middle blocker): one kill, eight digs.

* Aliya Merino (middle blocker): two digs.

NVC (4-9 overall, 2-5 Bay Valley Conference) is averaging 6.29 kills per set, 5.16 assists per set, 2.42 service aces per set, and 17.73 digs per set.

The Storm continues its season on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at home in a Bay Valley match against Solano Community College-Fairfield at 6 p.m.

CCCWVCA State Women's Volleyball Top 25

Seven Northern California teams are in the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association State Top 25 rankings, as announced by the California Community College Athletic Association on Oct. 31 in a report at cccaa.prestosports.com.

Feather River-Quincy (27-1) leads the rankings at No 1.

Also in the rankings:

No. 2 San Joaquin Delta-Stockton (18-2), No. 3 College of San Mateo (16-3), No. 7 American River-Sacramento (17-4), No. 17 Cabrillo-Aptos (10-7), No. 18 Hartnell-Salinas (16-9), No. 21 Sierra-Rocklin (14-10).

The "best of the rest' includes Solano Community College-Fairfield (21-7), Folsom Lake (13-7), West Valley-Saratoga (9-9), Sacramento City (15-10), Shasta-Redding (10-14), Santa Rosa (12-10) Modesto (11-13), Monterey Peninsula (12-4), Cosumnes River-Sacramento (12-12), De Anza-Cupertino (10-10), Merced (10-9), Mendocino-Ukiah (12-5), Lassen-Susanville (11-9).
