DeBellis’ 3-under 69 leads Napa Valley College men’s golf to win at Chardonnay Golf Club & Vineyards
By MARTY JAMES martyjames.sports@gmail.com
AMERICAN CANYON – It was cold and windy and some areas of the course were wet and soft from the recent rains.
Nick DeBellis wasn’t thinking about the weather or the conditions at Chardonnay Golf Club & Vineyards on Monday.
DeBellis, wearing a short-sleeve golf shirt and golf shorts, was thinking about going low in a tri-match for the Napa Valley College men’s golf team. He wasn’t thinking about making pars. He was thinking about making birdies.
“I think today I had a different maturity level where I was like, I'm thinking about my score, but in a way, to go lower. Not worried about going above. Not worried about making a mistake,” said DeBellis, a sophomore for the Storm. “I was just trying to keep it going. And when you're feeling good, you're feeling good, and that definitely helps to go lower.”
NVC women’s basketball sets the tone early, rolls to 80-59 win over Solano
Napa Valley College got after it right from the start in Friday night’s Bay Valley Conference women’s basketball game.
The Storm set the tone early, getting two 3-pointers from Arianna Aguilar, a freshman guard, as she scored 10 points in the first quarter. There was the all-around high-energy and up-tempo team play, the outstanding shooting from the trio of Aguilar, Rose Jamison and Jazmine Fontilla, and the way in which Napa Valley separated itself from Solano in the second quarter.
