Two-hit games for NVC baseball’s Brown, Smith, Boatman in loss to San Mateo
Napa Valley College lost its nonconference baseball game on Wednesday, Feb. 4, falling to College of San Mateo, 26-10, at Storm Field.
Dylan Brown, Wyatt Smith and Ethan Boatman each had two-hit games for Napa Valley (3-5 overall).
Brown was 2-for-4, with two runs scored and an RBI.
NVC men’s golf begins season with dual matches
The Napa Valley College men’s golf team began the 2026 spring season with dual matches earlier in the week against Modesto Junior College and Sierra College-Rocklin.
In its season opener, the Storm traveled to Pheasant Run Golf Club in Chowchilla (Madera County) to face Modesto Junior College in a dual match on Monday, Feb. 2.
Modesto won the dual match, 298-306.
Positive takeaways for NVC coach Ball following Storm’s loss to Merritt
There were a number of positive takeaways for coach Steve Ball following the Napa Valley College men’s basketball team’s 75-73 Bay Valley Conference loss to Merritt College-Oakland on Wednesday night.
To begin with, there was the standout play of the Storm’s defense, limiting Merritt to just two points through the first eight-plus minutes of the game.
“This group does a great job, defensively,” said Ball. “I thought we did an amazing job, defensively.”
There is the team-leading 22-point game turned in by AJ Loustau.
Fontilla’s huge third-quarter scoring charge leads NVC women’s basketball over Merritt
Napa Valley College trailed both in the first quarter and at halftime of Wednesday night’s Bay Valley Conference women’s basketball game against Merritt College-Oakland.
The Storm was down, 17-15 in the first period, and was also behind, 35-31, at the halftime break.
Russotti scores 25 points, but NVC men’s basketball falls to Los Medanos, 82-80
Jayden Russotti scored 25 points and two other players also reached double-figure scoring, but the Napa Valley College men’s basketball team lost to Los Medanos College, 82-80, in a Bay Valley Conference game on Friday, Jan. 30, in Pittsburg.
Russotti, a high-scoring freshman guard, continued his outstanding season, hitting five 3-pointers, to go along with eight rebounds. He was 10-of-22 shooting from the field and 5-of-9 shooting from the 3-point line.
AJ Loustau scored 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. He also had 12 rebounds and three assists.
NVC baseball wins second straight, 7-4 over state-ranked Butte College
Napa Valley College won its second straight game, beating Butte College-Oroville, a state-ranked team, on Monday at Storm Field, 7-4.
Napa Valley (3-4 overall) broke a 2-2 tie, scoring three runs in the sixth inning, and adding two more runs in the eighth inning, on a day when the Storm combined all facets of the game very well.
NVC baseball splits two-game series with College of the Siskiyous
The Napa Valley College baseball team continued its season last week, splitting a two-game series with visiting College of the Siskiyous-Weed at Storm Field.
After losing the first game, 8-2, on Friday, Jan. 30, the Storm came back and won the second game, 12-11, in 12 innings on Saturday, Jan. 31.
In Game 1 of the series, Napa Valley had eight hits, four errors and left 10 runners on base.
February a big month for Napa Valley College men’s golf
AMERICAN CANYON – February is a big month for the Napa Valley College men’s golf team.
The all-freshmen team will get its first taste of dual match and tournament competition.
The group will be getting to play on courses around Northern California that are part of the Big 8 Conference circuit.
