Season-low 369-team score carries Napa Valley College men’s golf to Big 8 Conference win
Napa Valley College shot a season-low 369-team score and won a Big 8 Conference-North Division men’s golf tournament on Wednesday at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.
All six players in the Napa Valley lineup posted scores in the 70s.
“I saw a lot of great golf out there. They really executed and they were fired up,” said Napa Valley head coach Bob Freschi. “The course was playing gettable. The wind is its defense. There wasn't much wind out there. The fairways were firm. They got good roll. The greens were firm.

Napa Valley College baseball falls behind early, loses to Los Medanos
The Napa Valley College baseball team fell behind early in its Bay Valley Conference game on Wednesday and lost to host Los Medanos College, 22-3, in Pittsburg.
Los Medanos went ahead 2-0 in the first inning and expanded on its lead, with a five-run second inning, a seven-run third inning, and a two-run fourth inning. Los Medanos was in front, 17-0, in the fifth inning.
The loss was the fourth in a row for Napa Valley (7-21 overall, 6-4 Bay Valley Conference).
Napa Valley was held to seven hits, left nine runners on base, and was charged with five errors.
The Storm struck out nine times.
Napa Valley College men’s golf team turns in third-place finish at State Preview
Tyler Momono fired a 6-over-par 78 and the Napa Valley College men’s golf team turned in a third-place finish at Monday’s State Preview at Bayonet Golf Course, in Seaside (Monterey County).
Napa Valley shot a 406-team score.
There were seven teams, along with those playing as individuals, in the event.
Bayonet was set up as a par-72, 6,900-yard layout.
John Scott Senz has strong connection to Napa Valley College men’s golf program
AMERICAN CANYON – For the last four years, John Scott Senz has taken time to travel to Napa County to see coach Bob Freschi and the Napa Valley College men’s golf team.
“It brings a smile to my face every time I see him,” Freschi said after a Big 8 Conference North Division tournament at Chardonnay Golf Club & Vineyards, the Storm’s home course, last week. “Terrific young man. What an experience he had here for us. He just enlightened our whole team.”
Boatman homers, Goen solid in relief for Napa Valley College baseball team in loss to College of Marin

Ethan Boatman hit a home run and Blake Goen was solid in relief for the Napa Valley College baseball team, but the host Storm lost to first-place College of Marin-Kentfield, 7-5, in a Bay Valley Conference game on Saturday, March 29.
College of Marin (18-9-1 overall, 8-1 Bay Valley) completed a three-game sweep of Napa Valley.
Napa Valley (7-20 overall, 6-3 Bay Valley), tied for third place in the conference standings, had nine hits, struck out nine times, left five runners on base, and walked twice in the game at Storm Field. The Storm made a comeback from an early 3-0 deficit, tying the game, 5-5 in the seventh inning.
College of Marin won it, scoring two runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Napa Valley College baseball has 10 hits in loss to College of Marin

The Napa Valley College baseball team had 10 hits, including a double from Caleb Morant and a triple from Shosei Tatsuno, but lost on Thursday to College of Marin, 10-4, in a Bay Valley Conference game in Kentfield.
Tatsuno was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Morant was 1-for-5.

The Napa Valley College baseball team had its winning streak end as the Storm lost at home on Tuesday to College of Marin-Kentfield, 13-5.
It was the first game of a three-game Bay Valley Conference series.
The loss snapped Napa Valley’s six-game winning streak.
The Storm (7-18 overall, 6-1 Bay Valley Conference) was held to five hits and left 10 runners on base.
Napa Valley walked nine times and struck out nine times.
Each team had three errors.

AMERICAN CANYON – It was cold and windy when the Napa Valley College men’s golf team arrived at Chardonnay Golf Club & Vineyards for Wednesday’s Big 8 Conference North Division tournament.
There were wind gusts during the day, turning the scoring on the par-72, 6,568-yard course into an even greater challenge, from tee to green.
“It was tough,” Storm head coach Bob Freschi said of the conditions. “It was blowing. It was gusty, and it affected some guys.
“If we could break 400, we'd be in good shape. We were close. Very close.”
