Napa Valley College men's soccer team picks up win, 3-2
Yair Rafael-Gaspar scored two goals in the second half as the Napa Valley College men's soccer team won its Bay Valley Conference match over host Merritt College-Oakland, 3-2, on Monday, Nov. 4.
It was a make-up game from Oct. 18.
Napa Valley (3-11-3 overall, 3-4-2 Bay Valley) also got a goal from Emmanuel Hurtado.
Merritt was ahead in the game, leading 1-0 and 2-1.
Napa Valley College men’s basketball battles back in loss to Redwoods
The host Napa Valley College men’s basketball team was missing its top scorer, Chris Farrington, for Sunday’s final game of the Live Like Geno Foundation Tip Off.
With Farrington out with a broken nose that he suffered in a game on Saturday night, Napa Valley made a run, battling back from a 19-point second-half deficit. The Storm got it to within an eight-point margin.
“The other guys tonight I thought stepped up,” said coach Steve Ball. “Jacob (Segura) and Kieran (Mannion) stepped up and took the point position and did really well with it. That's a good Redwoods team. When somebody goes down … somebody else has to step up. And I thought we did a good job with that tonight.”
Napa Valley College women's soccer opens conference tournament with 4-2 win
The host Napa Valley College women's soccer team opened the Bay Valley Conference’s round-robin tournament with a 4-2 win over Solano Community College-Fairfield on Friday, Nov. 1.
Napa Valley (7-2 overall, 6-2 Bay Valley) went ahead in the match, scoring two early goals in the first half.
The Storm scored two goals in the second half.
Thais Thompson-Rangel, a freshman midfielder, scored two goals to lead the Storm.
Annie Sanchez, a sophomore forward, and Amy Alfaro-Vega, a sophomore forward, each scored a goal.
The Napa Valley College volleyball team is 2-1 in its last three matches.
The Napa Valley College volleyball team is 2-1 in its last three matches. The Storm is in third place in the Bay Valley Conference standings and is 5-5 over its last 10 matches.
The Storm had wins over Contra Costa College-San Pablo, 3-0, and Yuba College-Marysville, 3-0.
Napa Valley lost its match to Los Medanos College-Pittsburg, 3-0.
In a match on Oct. 23, Napa Valley beat host Contra Costa, 25-15, 25-16, 25-8.
The Storm was led by Aubri LaPointe with 11 kills on a .400 kill percentage, seven digs and 11 points.
Helena White had nine kills on a .278 kill percentage, two digs and nine points.
Kendal Widell had six kills, five digs and six points.
NVC men's soccer falls to Woodland Community College, 2-0
The Napa Valley College men's soccer team lost its Bay Valley Conference match at home on Friday, Nov. 1, falling to Woodland Community College, 2-0.
Woodland (8-9 overall, 7-1 Bay Valley), the conference’s first-place team, had a 1-0 lead at halftime and scored a goal in the second half in shutting out the Storm.
Napa Valley (2-11-3 overall, 2-4-2 Bay Valley) has lost two straight matches and is in sixth place in the league standings.
Farrington scores 22 points as Napa Valley College men’s basketball opens season
Chris Farrington had his first shot attempt of the 2024-25 season blocked in Friday night’s opener of the Live Like Geno Foundation Tip Off.
Farrington wasn’t rattled. He shook it off and kept pushing the ball – making plays, leading the charge, keeping the Napa Valley College men’s basketball team in the game.
Jamison leads Napa Valley College women's basketball team into season

The Napa Valley College women's basketball team opens the 2024-25 season with two games at the College of the Redwoods Crossover, a four-team event in Eureka, this week.
The Storm will play two nonconference games. On Friday, they face College of the Redwoods at 7 p.m. On Saturday, they will meet Lassen College-Susanville at 1 p.m.

The Napa Valley College men's soccer team got a goal from Gabriel Cendejas in a 2-1 Bay Valley Conference loss to host College of Marin on Tuesday, Oct. 29 in Kentfield.
Cendejas, a sophomore defender, scored at the 70th minute mark of the second half to tie the match, 1-1. Mateo Villanueva-Martinez, a sophomore midfielder, had the assist.
Napa Valley (2-10-3 overall, 2-3-2 Bay Valley) was behind, 1-0, at halftime.
