NVC baseball falls to Los Medanos College, 9-2

Raisean Avila-Dorsey hit a home run and Vincent Lencioni had two hits for the Napa Valley College baseball team, but the Storm lost, 9-2, to Los Medanos College in Pittsburg on Tuesday.

Napa Valley (1-13 overall) trailed 2-0 after five innings. The Storm scored its first run in the sixth inning and scored its only other run in the seventh inning. The Storm was held to five hits, struck out 14 times, and committed three errors.

Napa Valley pitching gave up 11 hits and nine runs (six earned), walked four and struck out five.

Avila-Dorsey homered for the Storm in the sixth inning.

Jorge Lopez-Rios singled, driving in Lencioni, in the seventh inning.

Napa Valley left three runners on base.

Los Medanos opened the scoring with two runs in the third inning. Los Medanos scored a run in the seventh inning, followed by a five-run eighth inning, and a run in the ninth inning.

Napa Valley's top hitters were Lencioni (2-for-4), Avila-Dorsey (1-for-4, home run, RBI), Peyton McGowen (1-for-4), and Lopez-Rios (1-for-3, RBI).

Samuel Anderson started for the Storm and pitched five innings, facing 22 batters, allowing six hits and two runs (both earned), walking two and striking out four. Anderson, who took the loss, threw 86 pitches (49 strikes).

Jameson Hogarth pitched in relief, going 2 1/3 innings and facing 13 batters, allowing three hits and five runs (three earned), walking one and striking out one. Hogarth threw 37 pitches (20 strikes). Khyler Cabebe worked 1 2/3 innings of relief, facing nine batters, giving up two hits and two runs (one earned), and walking one. Cabebe threw 29 pitches (18 strikes).

Los Medanos' top hitters were Darrell Mays (2-for-5, double), Chase Taylor (2-for-3, RBI), and Yuto Sato (2-for-5, RBI).
