NVC men’s basketball falls to Canada College, Mendocino College

The Napa Valley College men's basketball team lost its last two games.

The Storm fell to host Canada College-Redwood City, 72-53, in a nonconference game on Dec. 30.

In a Bay Valley Conference game, the Storm fell to host Mendocino College, 65-59, in Ukiah on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

In the game against Canada, the Storm was led by Raekwon Bell with 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting. He also had three rebounds.

Chris Farrington scored nine points. He also had seven rebounds and two assists.

Hassan Flemming scored nine points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field and had two rebounds.

Oliver Aandahl scored eight points on 3-of-7 shooting with two 3-pointers. He also had three rebounds and two assists.

Nate Broome scored seven points and had six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Jalen Moore scored five points and had four rebounds.

Also playing for NVC was Jamari Taylor (three points, two rebounds, two assists), Jerard Jackson (two points, four rebounds), Ethan Williams and Nico Franco.

The Storm trailed at halftime, 38-25.

NVC shot 29.9 percent from the field (20-of-67), 18.5 percent from 3-point distance (5-of-27), and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line (8-of-11).

In the game against Mendocino, the Storm was led by Oliver Aandahl with 17 points on 5-of-11 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range. He also had six rebounds and three assists.

Chris Farrington scored 13 points. He also had 12 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Nate Broome scored nine points on 3-of-6 shooting. He also had five rebounds.

Hassan Flemming scored seven points. He also had six rebounds.

Also scoring for Napa Valley was Ethan Williams (five points, four rebounds), Raekwon Bell (four points, four rebounds), Jamari Taylor (two points, nine rebounds), and Jalen Moore (two points).

Also playing for NVC was Jerard Jackson (two rebounds) and Nico Franco.

The Storm shot 33.8 percent from the field (22-of-65), 23.1 percent from 3-point distance (6-of-26), and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line (9-of-12).

NVC had 52 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals and five blocked shots.

Napa Valley (0-15 overall, 0-3 Bay Valley Conference) is averaging 63.2 points per game on 33.5 percent shooting from the field, 24.7 percent from 3-point distance, and 71.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Storm is also averaging 36.5 rebounds and 11.2 assists per game.

NVC is at home on Friday, Jan. 5 for a Bay Valley Conference game against Los Medanos College-Pittsburg at 6 p.m.
