NVC’s Broome has 11 points, 10 rebounds in loss to San Joaquin Delta College

Nate Broome had one of his best games of the season, scoring 11 points and getting 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots, for the Napa Valley College men's basketball team in a nonconference game on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Broome was 3-of-5 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 at the free-throw line in 35 minutes.

Napa Valley, playing on the road, lost to host San Joaquin Delta College, 89-56, in Stockton.

Broome, who started, was the only player for the Storm (0-10 overall) to score in double figures.

It was the 10th straight loss to start the season for NVC.

Also scoring for the Storm:

Oliver Aandahl, with nine points, two 3-pointers, three assists.

Hassan Flemming, with nine points, three rebounds.

Jerard Jackson, with eight points, two 3-pointers, three rebounds.

Ethan Williams, with seven points, two rebounds, two assists.

Chris Farrington, with six points, five rebounds, three assists.

Jalen Moore, with six points, two rebounds.

Also playing for NVC:

Raekwon Bell (three rebounds), Nico Franco (two rebounds).

The Storm trailed at halftime, 43-28.

NVC shot 27.4 percent from the field (20-of-73), 19.4 percent from 3-point distance (6-of-31), and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line (10-of-14). The Storm is averaging 64.2 points per game on 34.1 percent shooting from the field, 26.8 percent from 3-point range, and 73.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Storm is also averaging 33.9 rebounds and 11.2 assists per game.

Ten players scored for San Joaquin Delta, which was led by Domonick Victor with 17 points, Julian Brown with 14 points, and Dayton Magana and Dominic Perasso with 13 points each. San Joaquin Delta shot 50.7 percent from the field (37-of-73), 24.1 percent from 3-point range (7-of-29), and 61.5 percent from the free-throw line (8-of-13).

NVC continues its nonconference season on Saturday, Dec. 9 at home against Cabrillo College-Aptos at 4 p.m.

CCCMBCA Top 30 poll

Fourteen Northern California teams are in the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association Top 30 poll, announced by the California Community College Athletic Association, in a report, at www.cccaasports.org, on Dec. 7.

The poll is led by No. 1 West Valley-Saratoga (8-0).
