Bell, Moore lead NVC men’s basketball in loss to Monterey Peninsula College

Raekwon Bell and Jalen Moore each scored in double figures, but the Napa Valley College men's basketball team dropped its fourth game in a row to start the 2023-24 season, falling on Friday, Nov. 10 at home to Monterey Peninsula College, 70-55.

Bell scored 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field and also had four rebounds and two assists to lead the Storm (0-4 overall).

Moore scored 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and was 2-of-5 from 3-point range.

Napa Valley trailed by five points at halftime, 37-32.

Ten players scored for the Storm.

Others contributing for NVC were Hassan Flemming (five points), Jaleel Turner (four points, five rebounds, two steals), Nate Broome (four rebounds), Oliver Aandahl (two rebounds, four assists), Jerard Jackson (three points), Ethan Williams (three points, two rebounds), and Chris Farrington (three points, three rebounds, five steals).

The Storm shot 40.0 percent from the field (22-of-55), 27.8 percent from 3-point distance (5-of-18), and 54.5 percent from the free-throw line (6-of-11).

The Storm was outrebounded by Monterey Peninsula, 49-26. The Storm had 10 assists, 10 steals and 17 turnovers.

Monterey Peninsula had three players score in double figures. Christian Green led the way with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Napa Valley has a nonconference game on Nov. 14 at Ohlone College-Fremont at 7 p.m.
