NVC men’s soccer shuts out Contra Costa, 4-0

Host Napa Valley College won its Bay Valley Conference men's soccer match on Friday, Nov. 3, shutting out Contra Costa College-San Pablo, 4-0.

Napa Valley (9-7-1 overall, 7-2-1 Bay Valley) is in second place in the conference standings.

There are two games to go in the 2023 regular season for the Storm.

In first place is Woodland Community College (11-5-2 overall, 9-0-1 Bay Valley).

It was Napa Valley's sixth win by shutout.

Napa Valley scored two goals in the first half and two goals in the second half.

In the first half, Ulisses Cruz, a freshman midfielder, scored at the 20-minute mark. The assist went to Angel Lopez, a freshman defender.

Yair Rafael, a freshman forward, scored an unassisted goal for the Storm at the 35-minute mark.

In the second half, Emmanuel Hurtado, a freshman midfielder, scored at the 65-minute mark. The assist was credited to Justin Sotelo, a sophomore forward.

Angelo Vivan, a sophomore forward, scored the Storm's fourth and final goal at the 70-minute mark. The assist went to Jonah Segura, a freshman defender.

Miguel Salas, a freshman goal keeper, got the shutout.

Napa Valley plays its final two matches of the regular season this week.

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the Storm plays at Merritt College-Oakland at 3 p.m.

On Thursday, Nov. 9, the Storm is at home for a match against Yuba College-Marysville at 3 p.m.
