Napa, Calif- In the final game of the 2018 season Napa Valley College recognized sophomores Rebekkah Parinas and Alexia Stewart for their final game in a Storm uniform. At the start of the game tension and nerves were high knowing all the Strom players wanted to win this game for the sophomores.

In the first set Mendocino came out with a tough serve receive that the Strom had trouble handling. After a service error by the Eagles, Napa settled down and went on a run of their own. That positive energy from the fans continued to build momentum for the Storm. Napa was able to limit any long runs by the Eagles as they plagued themselves with hitting and service errors. The Storm took the first set.

With momentum building into the second set, the storm looked to capitalize on the Eagles mistakes. Unfortunately, the roles were reversed and it was the Storm that made mistakes and the Eagles taking the momentum and winning the second set handily.

Going into the third set, the storm shook off the second set and got out to a commanding 13-5 lead. After getting out to a good lead Eagles continued to chip away, eventually taking and holding the lead to take a comeback set three win.

In set four each teams rallies were answered with a huge defensive stop or error. Down seven points late in the fourth set the energy from the Storm picked up and you can feel the momentum shifting in the gym. Big kills by Stewart and passing errors got the game within two points, but ultimately the Storm lose 25-23.

Napa Valley Athletics would like to thank both sophomores Alexia and Rebekkah for their hard work and dedication these last two years. They were model student athletes and brought energy and laughter to all of us.  We all wish them the best in their future endeavors.
