With his golf bag in hand and his family by his side, Dominic Taverrite called his arrival at Napa Valley College on Friday “just a really surreal experience.”
It was move-in day for Taverrite and many of the school’s student-athletes, who arrived throughout the day and checked into River Trail Village, a brand-new, beautiful on-campus housing complex that opened in August.
Taverrite said he has spent his whole life dreaming of playing college golf. At Napa Valley, he will get that opportunity, playing in a program led by head coach Bob Freschi.

Alfredo Hernandez and Napa Valley College have a connection that spans years and years.
Hernandez was in elementary school when his older sister, Dalila Hernandez, would drop him off, either at the Math Department or the McCarthy Library, while she was taking a class at NVC.
It’s where Alfredo spent part of day after school – getting his homework done, reading, and staying on top of his studies as a student at Vichy Elementary School.
It’s where he got his AA degree in Natural Science in 2012.
