Monster First Half Leads Strom to Victory

Napa, CAILF- After a decisive win away against the College of Marin the Storm Hosted Alameda looking to avenge their loss earlier in the season. The Strom continued that momentum from Wednesday's game to an 81-63 Victory.

Playing in from of a home crowd certainly gave the Storm confidence going into the game against Alameda. The Cougars were undermanned with only six players available which played a huge part in the Storm Victory. It was an offensive barrage from the Storm starters that Propelled them to a huge lead which they never conceded. Almost all five starters had double digit points at the end of the first half. The Storm played aggressively on both sides of the ball getting into passing lanes, contesting all shots and pounding the ball on the inside. Assistant Coach Brandon Bracy "We played very effectively, setting up our shooters on the inside with our bigs doing a great job demanding a double team. We cleaned up the glass but most importantly limited our turnovers." When the Storm execute offensively, and control pace of play they play with more poise. At the end of the half the Strom had a comfortable lead 55-23. Score leaders at the half were Malcolm Bracy and Tomas Gomez- Espana with 12, Saleem Ali- Musa and David Skeete with eight. During the run Tomas made three 3 pointer in two minuets and was the hot hand creating opportunities for his teammates.

In the second half the Storm offensive began to sputter only scoring 10 points in the first 8 minuets of the game. Luckily for the Storm the Cougars continued to struggle offensively and the lead grew to as much as 30 points. Although the Cougars began to chip away at the lead, it was never close never falling less than 19 points. The lack of offense in the second half was poor shot selection not within playing themselves and staying within their principles. It was a balanced scoring for the Storm in the second half getting contributions offensively from their bench in Scottie Strong (5), Amir Nakheki (5) and Oscar Frank (4).

Braxton Adderly said this about the win "It was a great team win, we fought together executed on both ends, it was a really fun game to play. Seeing everyone able to play and contribute is a huge confidence booster for our team going into the next game. We can put points on the board making sur we make the best of every possession we get."

The Storm (5-18) overall take on Mendocino College and continue to play spoiler for playoff hope for teams within the Bay Valley Conference.
