Storm Halt Losing Streak With Road Victory Over Mariners

Kentfield, CALIF- The Storm were looking to end their eight losing streak away against the Mariners. In the last matchup Marin won handedly 80-57. Before losing that game the Storm were riding a three game win streak. Turnovers were the giving up offensive rebounds were the key component to that Storm loss. Tides were different and the Storm were able to come away with the victory.

It was a tightly contested first half with both offensives working effectively. The Storm began the game with attention to detail and executing the game plan. "We controlled most of the first half in many facets of the game. Being up 30-21 we lead up a bit and had a few turnovers allowing Marin to get on a 13-0 run. So despite being down two we knew some adjustments that could be made to come out with the victory" Assistant coach Carson Carratini said. The storm were lead in points by Braxton Adderly and Tomas Gomez-Espana both with nine points. The Storm went into the end of the first half down 34-36.

In the second half the Storm continued their offensive efficiency while also playing great defensively limiting the Mariners to 29 points. "It is great when you play a complete game. We limited our turnovers and got more possessions. Those extra possessions made a big difference in the game.  Getting contributions from our bench scoring was great and guys that came in made a positive impact" Carratini said. Putting their bigs in foul trouble eliminated Marins length and were able to control pace and dominate the glass all game. Offensively, the Storm outscored 41-29 and getting to the free throw line at will. Adderly lead all scorers with 21 points, David Skeete and Gomez- Espana each contributed twelve, while Oscar Frank had a huge second half with ten.

The next game for the Storm (4-18) will be Friday February 1st, at 6:00 pm vs Alameda looking to avenge a 61-75 loss.
